Light
Have you ever seriously considered where it really comes from? When you finally realize the true Source of Light it will cause you to actually wake up for the first time in your life.

The events of this day remains the reason this little country is divided at the 38 parallel.
At the request of Jeju Korean parents and grandparents I was asked to help their children with an English Speech about the April 3rd 1948 incident. It was recorded in 2006 and we are still reviewing the lesson to this day. This year will be the 60th year anniversary. It's good policy to not keep a record of wrongs but it is wise to learn from them so you never have to experience them again. A secret carried for 60 years by simple farmers who love their missing children and holding their last breath of life waiting to see their country reunited after the greatest pride and arrogance divided them.

Baekdu Mountain North Korea
This is the highest mountain in all of Korea. In the national anthem sung in South Korea the first line says, "Until the waters the of the shining seas at the very south end of South Korea dry up and the highest summit of Baekdu Mountain in North Korea wears down may God ever watch over and protect our land."
In my efforts to teach English in South Korea, I find it very gratifying to see students actually understand what they sing every morning in their schools. I guess only a foreigner from outside would be the one to realize that what every Korean student and teacher sings everyday is actually a prayer affirming the unity of a country with a rich and wonderful culture and heritage.
Koreans need to be grateful to God that they inhabit a country of their natural origin and not one obtained through conquest, subterfuge and murder. There is no reason to try and destroy the beauty a small country has. Personally, I don't care how big and powerful my land of origin may appear to be; if you can't out shine a tiny country with a pure culture it is better to join them rather than try and beat them.

Today's Note: Conscience is like a precious flower that can be cultivated and made more beautiful day by day. Conscience like a tender plant can also be broken or burned which leaves behind a barren land unable to feel the warm sunshine or gentle breezes that give life.

Say not thou, I will hide myself from the Lord: shall any remember me from
above? I shall not be remembered among so many people: for what is my soul
among such an infinite number of creatures?--ECCLESIASTICUS xvi. 17.

Among so many, can He care?
Can special love be everywhere?
A myriad homes,--a myriad ways,--
And God's eye over every place?
I asked: my soul bethought of this;--
In just that very place of His
Where He hath put and keepeth you,

Give free and bold play to those instincts of the heart which believe that
the Creator must care for the creatures He has made, and that the only real
effective care for them must be that which takes each of them into His
love, and knowing it separately surrounds it with His separate sympathy.
There is not one life which the Life-giver ever loses out of His sight; not
one which sins so that He casts it away; not one which is not so near to
Him that whatever touches it touches Him with sorrow or with joy.
PHILLIPS BROOKS.
The fear of man brings a snare. By halting in our duty and giving back in
the time of trial, our hands grow weaker, our ears grow dull as to hearing
the language of the true Shepherd; so that when we look at the way of the
righteous, it seems as though it was not for us to follow them. J. WOOLMAN. |

Thought for the Day
|
"Want of money and the distress of a thief can never be alleged as the cause of his thieving, for many honest people endure greater hardships with fortitude. We must therefore seek the cause elsewhere than in want of money, for that is the miser's passion, not the thief's."
William Blake
