Above the Clouds
Credit & Copyright : Serge Brunier ( TWAN )
Explanation: From the windswept peak of Mauna Kea , on the Big Island of Hawaii, your view of the world at night could look like this. At an altitude of about 13,500 feet, the mountain top is silhouetted in the stunning skyscape recorded near dusk in early December of 2005. The volcanic peak rises just above a sea of storm clouds illuminated by a bright Moon. Planet Venus is setting near the Moon as the brilliant evening star. The scene also includes the faint, milky band of our own galaxy's disk of stars and cosmic dust clouds stretching from the horizon into the sky along the right edge of the frame. |

This is my Friend Charlie.
|
He is first person in my life to address me as "Sir" when he first introduced himself to me more than 4 years ago. His kind respect created a new name for me by which thousands of other students on this island now address me. He along with a number of other wonderful students in my life are my help, counsel and coordinators for my entire life and mission here in Korea.
The first student in my life is named Cyrus and I was so inspired by his genius with computers back in 1978 when he was in high school and I was just beginning to discover my purpose in life as a teacher at 27 years old. Cyrus and I are still in contact on a regular basis. Now in his mid forties there isn't much difference between us as the river of time always brings us to the same ocean.
The youngest student in my life is Marcus at age 6 who is teaching me once again the wonderful mystery found by taping a rubber band to a lollypop stick.
I'm grateful to God for each and every student in my life. The most heart breaking moments in my life are not when people die but when they reach puberty and somehow disappear. I keep trying to track them down to help them remember that there is safety when you remain among many friends in the playground.
They are our future. Help them build a beautiful world and just maybe when they are your age they may help save your life. Charlie helped save my life many times over.

Today's Note: Conscience is like a precious flower that can be cultivated and made more beautiful day by day. Conscience like a tender plant can also be broken or burned which leaves behind a barren land unable to feel the warm sunshine or gentle breezes that give life.

Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He bath given
us of His Spirit.--I JOHN iv. 13.
|
Within! within, oh turn
Thy spirit's eyes, and learn
Thy wandering senses gently to control;
Thy dearest Friend dwells deep within thy soul,
And asks thyself of thee,
That heart, and mind, and sense, He may make whole
In perfect harmony.
G. TERSTEEGEN. |
Wait patiently, trust humbly, depend only upon, seek solely to a God of
Light and Love, of Mercy and Goodness, of Glory and Majesty, ever dwelling
in the inmost depth and spirit of your soul. There you have all the secret,
hidden, invisible Upholder of all the creation, whose blessed operation
will always be found by a humble, faithful, loving, calm, patient
introversion of your heart to Him, who has His hidden heaven within you,
and which will open itself to you, as soon as your heart is left wholly to
His eternal, ever-speaking Word, and ever-sanctifying Spirit within you.
Beware of all eagerness and activity of your own natural spirit and temper.
Run not in any hasty ways of your own. Be patient under the sense of your
own vanity and weakness; and patiently wait for God to do His own work, and
in His own way.
