Explanation: The first image shows the place where I was born and now live. At the far left hand point of the black and red photo shows the convergence of the two rivers of lava where I now live and work. On the roll over image is how this volcanic mountain looks today as taken from the porch of my room looking back at the now cool and terra formed volcanic cinder cone. |

The End of the Road
Explanation: Not really amazing to look at until one understands what this shows and where it is at. The picture is of a paved road like the majority of roads in the world. A common expression is frequently used to explain where roads go to, that expression is, "All roads lead to Rome." The road I'm speaking of and showing in the above picture does not "lead to Rome."
You see, in this picture there is a very common and highly visible paved road that reaches from the bottom of the picture and narrows as it extends up hill; this is not the important road. Look again at the left hand side of the photo and there you will see a second road made of dirt. This is where "the end of the road" is found in a land that has perfected its skill of covering all fresh healthy green environments under the pressure of population expansion with concrete and asphalt.
I used to live in the "concrete asphalt jungle" until one morning I received a gift as my eyes opened to a new morning sun rise shinning through my bedroom window filled with the sound of many song birds. It is a miracle blessing that is so amazing to actually be living in. I had nothing to do with this transition from a world of night shadows into a blissful world of beauty. This place is like a beautiful spring blossom; I can experience the beauty and fragrance in this fleeting moment as it along with where I now live is just a fleeting foretaste of a world of blossoms that will never end.
I owe all my gratitude and thanks for all this wonderful beauty to the Ultimate Creator and Controller of the entire universe who is Jesus Christ my Savior.

This is my Friend Charlie.
|
He is first person in my life to address me as "Sir" when he first introduced himself to me more than 4 years ago. His kind respect created a new name for me by which thousands of other students on this island now address me. He along with a number of other wonderful students in my life are my help, counsel and coordinators for my entire life and mission here in Korea.
The first student in my life is named Cyrus and I was so inspired by his genius with computers back in 1978 when he was in high school and I was just beginning to discover my purpose in life as a teacher at 27 years old. Cyrus and I are still in contact on a regular basis. Now in his mid forties there isn't much difference between us as the river of time always brings us to the same ocean.
The youngest student in my life is Marcus at age 6 who is teaching me once again the wonderful mystery found by taping a rubber band to a lollypop stick.
I'm grateful to God for each and every student in my life. The most heart breaking moments in my life are not when people die but when they reach puberty and somehow disappear. I keep trying to track them down to help them remember that there is safety when you remain among many friends in the playground.
They are our future. Help them build a beautiful world and just maybe when they are your age they may help save your life. Charlie helped save my life many times over.

Today's Note: Conscience is like a precious flower that can be cultivated and made more beautiful day by day. Conscience like a tender plant can also be broken or burned which leaves behind a barren land unable to feel the warm sunshine or gentle breezes that give life.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out
of the mouth of God.--MATT. iv. 4.
A man's life conisteth not in the abundance of the things which he
possesseth.--LUKE xii. 15.

Whate'er God does is well,
Whether He gives or takes!
And what we from His hand receive
Suffices us to live.
He takes and gives, while yet He loves us still;
Then love His will.
B. SCHMOLCK.
Is that beast better, that hath two or three mountains to graze on, than
a little bee, that feeds on dew or manna, and lives upon what falls every
morning from the storehouse of heaven, clouds, and providence?
JEREMY TAYLOR. |
For myself I am certain that the good of human life cannot lie in the
possession of things which for one man to possess is for the rest to lose,
but rather in things which all can possess alike, and where one man's
wealth promotes his neighbor's.
B. SPINOZA.
Every lot is happy to a person who bears it with tranquillity.
