As the book of nature teaches, it is possible to be blinded by the light. I must confess that this is something we have all experienced at one time or another. The most common event many of us are familiar with is having a flash photo taken. If you are looking at the camera when the flash goes off there will definitely be a colored spot in your field of vision that you are not able to see through for a few moments. Another event many of us have experienced is being in a vehicle being driven in traffic at night; you quickly learn that to be safe you must train yourself to avoid the natural instinct and that is to “look at the light.”
Yes, looking at the light can blind you to darker things. However, for those lost at sea keeping your eyes on the light can mean life or death. I think everyone can agree that light makes the world a better place and gives life; if this were not true I believe night time would not be a reason to sleep.
Keeping your sights on the Light becomes the way we keep our lives healthy and useful. I believe we all tend to be attracted to Light in its many forms including peoples’ personalities. Good comedians makes us laugh (release our dark stress and receive better light) so cheerful people are attractive.
Is there any danger associated with always looking into the Light? To this question I would say “yes” if it is important for you to avoid some shadow in your pathway. I have found this especially true when riding my racing bicycle; I will stop to appreciate the beautiful warmth of the radiant sun which is soon followed by tears of cleansing and perhaps a sneeze. After the wonderful moment I must pause to allow my sight to adjust to lower light levels associated with obstacles and hazards so frequently found on the path of a high speed bicycle.
It is possible to live in this beautiful Light where no shadows can exist. What a wonderful experience to be at peace and notice shadows fade away. Today has begun with a brighter sky and the Light of the Sun shines warmly into my life. It appears to be a good day to journey across the road from one side of the mountain to the other. I shall prepare now.
