My long time friend in Hokkaido said today (3/11), "We didn't have damage, but we are afraid of spout water come floating on the wind from nuclear power generation in Fukushima.

(3/13) [7:53:21 PM]JA8AP Hiro, Hokkaido: The no 3 plant blew up minutes ago, thy say it was hydrogen blasting, Now I cannot believe what the plant says.the head of the plant says we are safe...... the level of radiation is low.)

(3/13) [10:45:38 PM] JA8AP Hiro, Hokkaido: The TV says No. 3 nuclear power plant in Fukushima blew up just now.

(3/13) [7:31:44 PM] AL7MI: There is BIG reason to run right now, but a panic of people trying to escape will cause fast death.

This is a very difficult time as I counsel with my friend in Japan. He struggles with the devastation but the greater struggle is discovering that his government is not letting the public know the truth regarding the nuclear melt down in progress nor the fact that the ocean is receaving the reactor core wash out. The fact that an entire bullet train with 400 passengers simply disappeared and still hasn't been found is disturbing, however when one discovers he isn't being told the facts about the nuclear melt down let's you know that efforts are being made to qwell any panis. Nevertheless, our mutual investigation has produced long periods of down time in our communication. He has already reviewed all the note I sent him on Chernoby has him feeling trapped before an inevitable death which will hunt out everyone not touched by the earthquake and tsunami.

It would be an honor to trade places with those who need help in Japan. For me, life in this world can only have worth by letting go of what I can't keep to help others gain what they can never lose.

Hiro and I are both amateur radio enthusiasts and deal with restrictions that society sometimes suffers when our radio equipment interferes with the neighbor's telephones, televisions, hearing aids, microwave ovens etc.
